Do You Believe in Bigfoot?

by Don Current on April 18, 2010

Bigfoot. I remember as a kid growing up that bigfoot was a big deal. So were alien sightings and the Loch Ness monster. People were intrigued by them. People talked about them. The news reported on them. When’s the last time you heard a story about bigfoot? I guess he’s become passe’. Maybe as a society we’ve outgrown him. We’re too smart to believe in him. We are the masters of our world. We know all there is to know. We have discovered all there is to discover.

My grandparents didn’t believe in using credit. They worked hard and paid for the things they wanted with cash. It meant they had to wait. It meant they had to plan. It meant they had to sacrifice. Debt was something to be avoided except maybe to purchase a home, but not always even then. But in our day and age, we’re smarter than that. We know how to use debt to our advantage. It doesn’t control us, we control it. We’re putting one over on those companies offering interest free financing for 90 days, aren’t we? Who knows how they manage to stay in business long enough to offer  that deal again and again? We are the masters of our finances. We are the rulers of our lives. There’s no bigfoot…. is there?
